India is one of the ancient civilisations in the world. It has achieved multi-faceted socioeconomic progress during the last five decades. It has moved forward displaying remarkable progress in the field of agriculture, industry, technology and overall economic development. India has also contributed significantly to the making of
world history.

In today’s class we learnt about India’s location and extension
• India is located in the Northern hemisphere .
• It has 7 neighbouring Countries Pakistan , Afghanistan , Nepal, Bhutan , China , Bangladesh and Myanmar.
• Srilanka is separated from India by Palk Strait.
• India has both Land frontiers about 15,200 kms and Water Frontiers about 6100kms.
• India has 29 states and 7 Union Territories.
